system event

Terms from Artificial Intelligence: humans at the heart of algorithms

A system event is when the software agent initiates some form of action based on an internal change, such as completing a computation, or a message from another agent. This is in contrast to a user event, timed event or status change event. In a user interface the term system event may refer to any event or action generated by the compter system for example an agent replying to a message or an expert system requesting information from the user.
